Envelope Addressing

1.

Married couple:

  • Mr. and Mrs. John Smith.
  • Gender sensitive individuals may wish to honor each person by suing each of their names - Jane and John Smith
2.

A married woman who has maintained her maiden name or couples living together.

  • Ms. Jane Doe and Mr. John Smith.
3.

If one of the individuals is a Judge:

  • The Honorable and Mrs. John Smith
  • The Honorable Jane Smith and Mr. John Smith
4. Children over the age of 18 should receive their own invitation.
5. Printed labels are strongly discouraged.

Assembling Invitations

1.

Invitation first.

2.

Reception card (used when the reception/dinner is held at a different venue then the ceremony) is placed face up on top of the invitation.

3.

Response envelope is placed faced down.

4. Response card is slipped face under the flap of the response envelope.
5. If you are using an inner envelope, all items are placed inside facing out. The inner envelope is then placed inside the mailing envelope with the flap facing away from you.

When to Mail Invitations

Depending on how elaborate your business or social event will be, we suggest three to four weeks.

For weddings, especially if there are many out-of-town guests, we recommend six to eight weeks.
